What is an Anti-Settling Agent?

An anti-settling agent is a rheology modifier that prevents the separation and settling of solid particles in liquid formulations. CAMP-SHINNING's organoclay anti-settling agents create a three-dimensional gel network that suspends particles uniformly throughout the medium.

Our modified montmorillonite clay provides exceptional thixotropic properties, ensuring stable suspension during storage while allowing easy application when shear is applied.

Usage Guidelines Optimal Incorporation Methods

Proper incorporation techniques ensure maximum anti-settling performance and optimal rheological properties in your formulations.

Standard Incorporation Method

1

Pre-mix with Solvent

Slowly add organoclay to a portion of the solvent under moderate agitation. Use 20-30% of total solvent volume.

2

Add Polar Activator

Add polar activator (acetone/water 95/5) at 20-30% of organoclay weight. Mix for 5-10 minutes.

3

High Shear Mixing

Apply high shear mixing for 15-25 minutes to fully activate the organoclay and develop gel structure.

4

Add Remaining Components

Gradually add remaining solvents, resins, and additives while maintaining adequate mixing.

Typical Dosage Levels

Coatings & Paints 1-3%
Printing Inks 0.5-2.5%
Adhesives 1-4%
Grease 7-10%
Drilling Fluids 2-6 lb/bbl

Important Notes

  • Always add organoclay to solvent, never the reverse
  • Ensure complete wetting before adding activator
  • Higher temperatures (60-70°C) improve dispersion
  • CP-EZ grades require no polar activator
