CP-EWS Modified Bentonite for Water Borne System

CP-EWS Modified Bentonite for Water Borne System

CP-EWS is modified bentonite. It is used in water-borne system. Compared with CP-EW, CP-EWS has better performance of thixotropy, transparence and dispersion.

Advantages of CP-EWS Modified Bentonite for Water Borne System

  • High gelling effectiveness, CP-EWS can form gel even at 2% in water
  • Easy dispersing.
  • Gel is transparency and of light color
  • Prevents pigment Settling
  • High thixotropy, Good anti-sag property

Application of CP-EWS Modified Bentonite for Water Borne System

CP-EWS is used in the following applications:

  • Industrial water-reducible paint
  • Antiseptic
  • Toothpaste and tooth polish
  • Cream and Lotions
  • Emulsion paint
  • Pigment and blung water
  • Water-born sealant, adhesive
  • Ceramics

Using

CP-EWS it can be added directly in powder, with its addition to be 0.2~3.0%. Procedures are as follow.

  1. water (PH:7.0-8.0)
  2. CP-EWS (Dispersing at high speed for 20-30minutes)
  3. Additive
  4. Pigment and filler (Mixing and dispersing)
  5. Emulsion (Mixing).
  6. Post correct.

How to Use CP-EWS Modified Bentonite for Optimal Performance

  1. Pre-Dispersion Preparation

Add CP-EWS to the water-borne system under low-speed stirring (300–500 RPM) to avoid agglomeration.

For best dispersion, pre-blend CP-EWS with inert pigments/fillers (e.g., titanium dioxide, talc) before adding to the aqueous phase—this reduces clumping.

  1. Stirring & Activation

Increase stirring speed to 800–1,200 RPM after initial wetting to break down any remaining aggregates.

Stir continuously for 15–20 minutes to ensure uniform distribution; avoid over-stirring (may reduce thixotropic efficiency).

  1. Dosage Recommendations

Typical dosage: 0.5–2.0% of total formulation weight (adjust based on desired viscosity and thixotropy).

Start with a lower dosage (0.5–1.0%) and increment gradually to avoid excessive thickening.

  1. Compatibility & Timing

Add CP-EWS before adding thickeners, biocides, or other rheological additives to prevent interference.

Ensure the system pH is 7.0–9.0 (optimal for bentonite activation); adjust with pH modifiers if needed.

  1. Post-Addition Handling

Allow the formulation to “age” for 30–60 minutes after mixing to fully develop thixotropy and transparency.

Avoid high-temperature exposure (>60°C) during processing—may degrade dispersion stability.

Key Notes

Follow dosage guidelines to maintain formulation clarity and application properties.

For high-solids systems, pre-disperse CP-EWS in a small portion of water first for better integration.

Focusing on practical steps to maximise thixotropy, transparency, and dispersion—core performance attributes of CP-EWS.
