Organo-Modified Bentonite High-Performance Organoclay Solutions
Revolutionary organophilic clay technology designed for solvent-based systems. Superior thickening, thixotropic properties, and anti-settling performance across low to high polarity applications.
What is Organo-Modified Bentonite?
Organo-modified bentonite is a high-efficiency organoclay rheology modifier, created through the modification of sodium bentonite powder. This advanced material serves as a versatile rheological additive, also known as organophilic clay, organobentonite, or modified montmorillonite.
When incorporated into coatings, greases, adhesives, inks, or oilfield drilling fluid formulations, it delivers repeatable rheological properties with exceptional thickening ability, high thixotropy, superior suspension properties, and effective anti-sagging performance.

Usage Guidelines Optimal Dispersion Procedures
Proper incorporation techniques ensure maximum performance and consistent rheological properties from our organo-modified bentonite products.
General Dispersion Procedure
Pre-heat Base System
Heat the base oil or solvent system to 60-70°C if conditions permit for optimal dispersion.
Add Organoclay
Gradually add organoclay while maintaining agitation. Typical dosage: 0.5-3% for coatings, 7-10% for greases.
High-Shear Mixing
Apply high-shear mixing for 10-15 minutes to ensure complete dispersion and activation.
Add Polar Activator
For grease applications: Add acetone/water (95/5) at 20-30% of organoclay weight.
Application-Specific Guidelines
Coatings & Paints
- • Addition level: 0.5-2.0% by weight
- • Add during letdown stage
- • Use high-speed disperser
- • No polar activator required
Printing Inks
- • Addition level: 1.0-3.0% by weight
- • Pre-gel in portion of vehicle
- • Use three-roll mill for dispersion
- • Allow 24 hours for full development
Drilling Fluids
- • Addition level: 0.5-2.0 lb/bbl
- • Add through hopper under agitation
- • Mix for minimum 20 minutes
- • Check rheology after circulation
Adhesives
- • Addition level: 1.0-5.0% by weight
- • Add to resin component first
- • Use planetary mixer
- • Avoid over-shearing
Important Considerations
Storage & Handling
- Store in dry, well-ventilated area at 0-30°C
- Keep containers tightly closed when not in use
- Quality guarantee period: 24 months
Performance Optimization
- Higher shear improves gel development
- Temperature affects activation rate
- Allow adequate development time
