Technical Benefits for Wood Coatings
Discover how CAMP-SHINNING organoclay transforms wood coating performance with superior rheological properties and application characteristics.
Anti-Sagging Excellence
Prevents coating sag and drip on vertical wood surfaces, ensuring uniform film thickness and professional appearance even on complex geometries.
Optimal Thixotropy
Provides ideal flow characteristics during application while maintaining stability at rest, enabling smooth brush and spray application with excellent leveling.
Superior Suspension
Keeps pigments, fillers, and additives uniformly distributed throughout the coating system, preventing settling and ensuring consistent color and performance.
Precise Viscosity Control
Enables fine-tuning of coating viscosity for optimal application properties across different application methods and environmental conditions.
Enhanced Stability
Improves long-term storage stability of wood coating formulations, reducing phase separation and maintaining consistent performance over extended periods.
Application Versatility
Compatible with brush, roller, spray, and dip application methods, providing formulators flexibility in coating system design and end-user application preferences.
Formulation Guidelines
Optimize your wood coating formulations with our proven incorporation methods and dosage recommendations.
Incorporation Procedure
Pre-gel Preparation
Disperse organoclay in portion of the solvent system under high shear mixing. Add polar activator (95% acetone + 5% water) at 20-30% of organoclay weight.
High Shear Mixing
Mix at high speed for 10-15 minutes to achieve complete dispersion and gel formation. Temperature should be maintained at 60-70°C if possible.
Letdown Process
Gradually add the pre-gel to the remaining coating components under moderate agitation. Continue mixing until uniform consistency is achieved.
Final Adjustment
Allow 24-48 hours for complete rheological development. Adjust viscosity if needed with additional solvent or organoclay.
Recommended Dosage
Note: Dosages are based on total formulation weight. Optimal levels may vary depending on specific formulation requirements and desired rheological properties.
