General Application Guidelines
Dosage Levels
Typical addition levels range from 0.2% to 2.0% by weight, depending on application and desired viscosity.
Dispersion Method
Add slowly to vortex while stirring. Use high-shear mixing for optimal dispersion and gel development.
Polar Activator
For certain grades, use polar activators (methanol, ethanol, or acetone/water) at 20-40% of clay weight.
Temperature Considerations
Optimal dispersion occurs at 60-70°C. Allow adequate mixing time for complete hydration.
Storage & Handling
- Store in dry, well-ventilated area (0°C-30°C)
- Keep containers tightly closed
- 24-month shelf life when properly stored
Grease Formulation Procedure
Heat Base Oil
Heat base oil to 60-70°C if conditions permit for optimal dispersion.
Add Organoclay
Add organoclay at 7-10% of total formulation while stirring. Mix for 5-10 minutes.
Add Polar Activator
Add polar activator (acetone/water 95/5) at 2-3% of total formulation. Add other additives and stir 25-30 minutes.
Process & Finish
Use pump for colloid grinding and homogenizer processing. Deair, filtrate, and pack.
