Compatible Solvent Systems
Typical Application Areas
Simple 3-Step Activation Process
CP-34 integrates seamlessly into your existing paint manufacturing workflow. No special equipment needed -- just follow these straightforward steps.
Pre-disperse in Solvent
Add CP-34 to the solvent component of your formulation. Recommended solvent: xylene, butyl acetate, or your primary paint solvent.
💡 Tip: Pre-disperse at 5-10% concentration in solvent before adding to the main batch for best results.
High-Shear Dispersion
Apply high-shear mixing using a Cowles dissolver or similar equipment. Mix at 2,000-3,000 RPM for 15-20 minutes until a smooth, lump-free gel forms.
⚡ No grinding required -- standard Cowles dissolver is sufficient for complete activation.
Add to Paint Formulation
Incorporate the CP-34 gel into your paint formula at the appropriate stage. Add aluminum flake paste under low-shear mixing to preserve flake integrity.
🎨 Result: Stable, sag-resistant aluminum flake paint with excellent metallic appearance and long shelf life.

Common Aluminum Flake Paint Challenges Solved by CP-34
Aluminum flake pigments settle to the bottom during storage, forming hard cakes that are difficult to re-disperse uniformly.
Forms a stable 3D gel network that suspends aluminum flakes uniformly. Easy re-dispersion with gentle stirring after storage.
Paint sags or runs on vertical surfaces before drying, causing uneven film thickness and poor metallic appearance.
Provides immediate yield value after application, preventing sag while allowing sufficient flow-out for a smooth, even metallic film.
Incompatible rheology modifiers cause aluminum flakes to flocculate, destroying metallic luster and creating a dull, mottled appearance.
Organophilic surface treatment ensures full compatibility with solvent-based systems. Zero flocculation, maximum metallic brilliance preserved.
Excessive or incompatible rheology additives introduce haze, pinholes, or color shift in the final dried film, reducing aesthetic quality.
Optimized particle size and surface chemistry ensure clean, defect-free films. No haze, no pinholes, no color shift at recommended dosages.
