0.5% - 2.0% by total formulation weight depending on desired viscosity and thixotropic properties.

Polar Activator Requirements

For solvent-based systems, use polar activator (acetone/water 95/5 ratio):

  • Activator dosage: 20-30% of organoclay weight
  • Add after organoclay dispersion
  • Mix thoroughly for 5-10 minutes

Mixing Procedure

Pre-heat Base Material

Heat base paint or resin to 60-70°C if conditions permit for better dispersion.

Add Organoclay

Slowly add organoclay while stirring at moderate speed. Mix for 5-10 minutes until fully wetted.

Add Polar Activator

For solvent systems, add polar activator and continue mixing for 5-10 minutes.

High-Shear Mixing

Use high-speed disperser or grinding equipment for 25-30 minutes to achieve optimal gel development.

Final Processing

Add remaining additives, deair, filter, and package. Allow gel time for full rheology development.

  • • Store in dry conditions at 0-30°C temperature range
